Gullas College of Medicine proudly served as the host school of the 14th APMC-SN Visayas Regional Assembly, a significant academic gathering organized by the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC) that brought together medical schools, student leaders, and future physicians from across the Visayas region. The assembly provided a dynamic platform for collaboration, intellectual exchange, and the celebration of academic excellence, reinforcing GCM’s commitment to holistic medical education and regional leadership.

As host institution, Gullas College of Medicine welcomed delegates to a series of highly competitive academic events that tested knowledge, research aptitude, and critical thinking. GCM proudly congratulates its student delegates who represented the institution with excellence, discipline, and passion throughout the assembly. The GCM Quiz Bee Team—Karl Kelvin Opsima, Fritz Ken Pascubillo, Mary Odias, and Sumeth Jompang—advanced as Finalists in the Regional Medical Quiz Bee Competition. In the Regional Research Competition, Sitty Hadji Ali, Louie Valencia, Jeanifer Macasilig, and Xymeerenz Tati earned 4th Runner-Up honors for their commendable research performance. Meanwhile, GCM’s debate teams demonstrated strong advocacy and analytical skills, with Andie Crimo Mangonie, Rajesh Kumar Gurumoorthy, and Khushi Sharma reaching the Semifinalist round in the International Category, and Khyle Christian Rojo, Rhoda A. Original, and Charles Verneil C. Petalcorin representing GCM in the Local Category of the Regional Interscholastic Debate Competition.

These achievements were made possible through the dedication and guidance of GCM’s mentors and coaches who worked tirelessly to prepare the students for regional competition. The Quiz Bee team was mentored by Dr. Faith T. Yee, Dr. Leida Marie P. Alarcon, and Dr. Sumiya S. Fanlo, with strong academic support from the teaching faculty composed of Dr. Joseph Raevin Z. Pelayo, Dr. James A. de la Cruz, Dr. Kathleen Joyce C. Del Carmen, Dr. Mark Lester D. Dalanon, and Dr. Ian L. Genaldo. The debate teams were coached by Atty. Nichol John Mabale, while research participants were guided by Dr. Hanze Merl U. Claros and Dr. Althea R. Arenajo. Additional academic mentorship was provided by Dr. Sonny C. Redula for the Clinico-Pathologic Case Presentation component.

Hosting the 14th APMC-SN Visayas Regional Assembly marks a proud milestone for Gullas College of Medicine. Beyond the awards and recognitions, the event strengthened collaboration among medical schools and reaffirmed GCM’s role in nurturing competent, compassionate, and globally competitive future physicians. The institution extends its warmest congratulations to all student delegates, mentors, and organizers who contributed to the success of this assembly, continuing to uphold GCM’s mission of the finest training for the highest calling.
