GCM Holds Its 47th Grand Alumni Homecoming

The day was filled with cherished memories as GCM hosts its Grand Alumni Homecoming with its theme “Binding our future with bonds we have set in the yesteryears”, an event devoted to recognizing the rich history of its previous students and educators, and reflecting on the institution's history as it honors alumni who has shaped and made notable contributions to their communities.

In keeping with the aim of the institution's founder, the late Don Vicente R. Gullas, who once said, "I hope to produce Kings and Queens who will never wear crowns but will be royals just the same," GCM recognizes the enormous influence its graduates have had. These exceptional individuals have answered the highest call, making a mark on the institution and the communities they serve in.

Morning Session – 1st Dr. Renato Espinosa Memorial Lecture

Earlier before the grand celebration, a talk on “National Waste Water Surveillance System” was given by Dr. Geroncio Fajardo, an epidemiologist of the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC), at the GCM campus. The seminar was about the diseases that lurk in the wastewater produced by the local population; it was well attended by fellow GCM doctors-alumni.

In attendance were GCM’s Dean Dr. Jose Juan Rafael Laico, who gave an inspirational speech; GCM faculty, alumni, and the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) personnel.

GCM's influence extends far beyond the medical field. The institution has cultivated servant leaders and renowned figures who have significantly contributed to society, reflecting its unwavering commitment to excellence. This dedication is evident in the remarkable successes of its alumni, who embody GCM's core principles and objectives.

The Grand Night of Cherished Friendships and Memories

All in their stellar stature, GCM alumni reminisces fond memories in this memorable night at the Grand Ballroom of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel last July 13, 2024.

The event was dedicated to reminiscing and honoring GCM’s esteemed alumni. In honor of alumni who have impacted the community and nation building, plaques of recognition were awarded to those who achieved exceptional feats; including top performances in the Physician’s Licensure Examination during their time at GCM.

Additionally, certificates of appreciation were presented to doctors who have demonstrated a profound passion for teaching and inspiring others throughout their tenure as mentors at GCM.

Dr. David K. Pillai delivered a heartfelt speech, encouraging attendees to continue pursuing their passions.

This was truly a day to remember for all those who have undertaken the finest training for the highest calling.
