In a heartfelt display of unity and cultural pride, Gullas College of Medicine (GCM) proudly celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with a solemn flag ceremony held early in the morning at the GCM grounds.

Students, faculty, and staff—led by our Indian student community—gathered to witness the hoisting of the Indian national flag, marking a moment of deep reverence for the rich history and enduring spirit of the world’s largest democracy. The event began promptly at sunrise, symbolizing hope and renewal, as the tricolor unfurled against the Cebu skyline.

The ceremony included the singing of India’s national anthem, a short reflection on the significance of the day, and expressions of solidarity from the GCM administration. This celebration not only honored India’s journey to freedom but also underscored the college’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, multicultural community where traditions from all over the world are respected and celebrated.

As the morning’s program concluded, participants were reminded that the values of independence, unity, and perseverance resonate across borders—values that are deeply embedded in the mission of GCM to nurture future physicians with a global perspective.

Happy 79th Independence Day, India! Jai Hind!
