GCM Goes to Alegria!

GCM partnered with the Office of the Presidential Assistant of the Visayas (OPAV) in their Caravan of Services taking place in Alegria, the institution set up a booth where prospecting individuals were given a chance to have an overview of scholarships and registration information, combining the program with fun activities, games, and awards. The day was characterized by a welcoming community atmosphere and the offer of educational possibilities for potential students.

 

Participants had the opportunity to win a variety of prizes, as well as get gifts such as a GCM pin, tote bag, folding fan, and T-shirt. The event not only gave useful information on scholarships and enrollment criteria, but it also instilled a sense of belonging and excitement in attendance.

 

A highlight of the day was a visit by a famous GCM alumnus, Hon. Dr. Gilberto Fernandez-Magallon currently the Mayor of Alegria. Dr. Fernandez-Magallon was born on September 21, 1960, in Kabasalan, Sibugay Province, as the seventh (7th) child in a farming family of ten (10).

 

After moving to Cebu to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor, he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Velez College in 1981 and his medical degree from Gullas College of Medicine in 1985.

 

The institution's participation demonstrated the college's dedication to promoting educational advancement and community pride.

 

GCM continues to assist and inspire future medical professionals by providing scholarships and engaging programs, following in the footsteps of distinguished graduates such as Dr. Fernandez-Magallon. With the institution opening its doors for accepting applications for scholarships, GCM underlines its commitment to provide access to the finest training for the highest calling.
