Curriculum FAQs
What is the structure of the GCM Doctor of Medicine program?
GCM follows a 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, which includes basic sciences, clinical sciences, and hands-on clinical rotations in affiliated hospitals.
What teaching methods are used at GCM?
We use a combination of traditional lectures, case-based learning (CBL), problem-based learning (PBL), laboratory work, simulation training, and actual hospital-based experiences.
Are there any special programs for international students?
Yes. We provide a bridging program for our 3rd year students going into clerkship/4th year to enhance their clinical skills like vital signs taking, IV, NGT, and FBC insertion, medical specialty procedures (suturing, pediatric, obstetric, etc), and all instruction is in English. This is to ensure our students are ready to enter clerkship.
Where are clinical rotations held?
Clinical rotations are conducted in Bohol at Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center, Ramiro Community Hospital, and Allied Care Experts (ACE) Medical Center. In Cebu, rotations take place at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Mendero Medical Center, The Hospital at Maayo, Eversley Childs Sanitarium, Cebu City Medical Center, and St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital – ensuring students get real-world patient care experience.
Is NMAT required for admission?
Yes, NMAT (National Medical Admission Test) is required for both local and international students as part of the CHED/Philippine medical education requirements. Cutoff is 40.
Can I transfer from another medical school?
Transferees are accepted however they have to go back to first year Medicine.
Is the MD degree from GCM recognized internationally?
Yes, the MD degree from Gullas College of Medicine (GCM) is recognized in many countries, subject to the licensure and regulatory requirements of each. We are also proud to share that GCM has recently achieved PAASCU Candidate Status, a significant step toward full accreditation. Our institution is actively working toward securing full PAASCU accreditation before 2026, further strengthening the global recognition and credibility of our medical program.
Are there any research or elective opportunities?
Yes. Students can engage in research, community health electives, and medical missions as part of their academic or extracurricular development.
Who teaches the classes?
GCM has a roster of board-certified faculty members, many of whom are practicing specialists in their fields.
What are the major exams?
Major examinations include bimonthly exams and comprehensive exams. Bimonthly exams are conducted every two months. Minor examinations (long exams) vary by subject, but on average there are two to three long exams per subject during each bimonthly period. Other minor assessments, such as short quizzes and laboratory quizzes, also vary depending on the subject.

Scholarship FAQs
Who can apply for the scholarship?
The scholarship program is open to incoming Doctor of Medicine (MD) students who hold a bachelor’s degree in any field of study from an accredited higher education institution. Eligibility may vary depending on the specific scholarship grant.
What are the qualifications and requirements?
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements set by the Scholarship Committee, which may include academic achievements, NMAT performance, completion of admission requirements, and submission of all required scholarship documents. Additional criteria may apply depending on the scholarship category.
What expenses does the scholarship cover?
The coverage depends on the specific scholarship grant awarded. Scholarship benefits may include full or partial tuition coverage, miscellaneous fees, living allowance, board and lodging, meals, and other educational support.
Does it cover tuition only or also miscellaneous fees?
This depends on the scholarship category. Some scholarships cover tuition fees only, while others provide full educational support, including miscellaneous fees and other approved expenses.
Does it include books, uniforms, dormitory, or living allowance?
Certain scholarship grants may include additional benefits such as dormitory accommodation, living allowance, meals, or stipends. Applicants should refer to the specific terms and conditions of the scholarship for details regarding coverage.
How do I apply for the scholarship?
Interested applicants may apply by submitting a Letter of Intent addressed to the Scholarship Committee, together with a copy of their Transcript of Records (TOR), through email at scholarshipcommittee@gcm.edu.ph. Applicants who meet the initial screening requirements may subsequently be requested to submit additional documents and undergo further evaluation by the Scholarship Committee.

Is there an application fee?
No. There is currently no separate application fee for scholarship applicants.
What is the deadline for submission?
Application deadlines are announced annually through official Gullas College of Medicine communication channels. Applicants are encouraged to submit their requirements as early as possible.
Is there an interview or examination?
Yes. Shortlisted applicants may be required to undergo an interview conducted by the Scholarship Committee. Additional assessments may be required depending on the scholarship grant.
When will the results be released?
Results are typically released after the completion of the screening and interview process. Successful applicants will be notified once final approval has been granted.
How will I be notified if I am accepted?
Successful applicants will be notified through their registered email address.
What grade/GWA must I maintain?
Retention requirements vary by scholarship type. Generally, scholars must maintain the minimum General Weighted Average (GWA) specified in their Scholarship Offer Letter and comply with all academic, behavioral, and engagement requirements of the scholarship program.
Can the scholarship be renewed every year?
Yes. Scholarship grants are generally subject to annual renewal. Renewal is contingent upon the scholar’s continued compliance with academic, behavioral, and scholarship engagement requirements and is subject to review by the Scholarship Committee and approval by the Dean.
